今日高川町には修学旅行や研修旅行に国内の学生さんなどと共に、海外からも多くの方が農家民泊に訪れてくれております。ゆったりした農家へお泊まりいただき、家族や近所の方と田舎の夜を楽しんでいただく。翌日には農作業を手伝ったり、田舎体験をしたりと。
　先日は東南アジアの島の若者達が大挙こられました。パプアニューギニアや、フィジーなどの皆さん。皆さん学生や、政府の幹部候補生とか。たくましきラガーマンのような方々ばかり。共通語が英語とかで私のウエルカム挨拶もユーモアを交え簡単に日高川町の楽しさを英語で紹介しました。
　Hello, Everyone. Welcome to Hidakagawa town in Wakayama, Japan from the Pacific islands. I'd like to give a speech of welcome as a mayor of Hidakagawa town striving for making the best town in Japan.
　There are many places you can enjoy in this town including Yahoo point. Do you know“Yahoo”? When you shout“I love you”, you will hear the echo“I love you. If you have time, please visit. There is also a festival called laughing festival. It started over 400 years ago and people laugh “wa ha ha” in the festival. A clown laughs saying “エーらくしゃー　よーらくしゃー”. This means “the home is happy, the world is happy”. Let’s do it together. Please stand up and say. Now, practice time. Are you ready? “エーらくしゃー　よーらくしゃー　笑え笑えわっはっはー”. Thank you. It’s cheerful, isn’t it?
